Schoooool!

Well officially it starts on Monday but yesterday we were able to go to the school and find out whose class T is in and if any of his friends are in class with him. As it turns out, our next door neighbor's son is in his class - so there's at least one familiar face and probably a lot more than that. Today is an open house where we can actually go in, meet the teacher and drop off school supplies.

We've ordered new furniture for Terran. I spent this week completely hoeing out both his and Bobby's rooms - handing toys down to Bobby, sorting things to either be sold or trashed, etc. Terran's room is *much* better and now ready for the night before delivery frantic emptying so the new furniture can be put in place.

Bobby's room.... Well we got rid of a lot, but those aforementioned hand-me-downs readily fill the space. His room is on the small side and for the time being he has a play kitchen that looms large. We'll have to come up with some kind of miracle to get everything to fit nice, but even his room is in better shape than it's been in awhile. At least now it's full of toys he likes to play with, rather than those "baby toys" he's been disdaining for a while.

This weekend - we'll tackle the hallway. Gots to rip down wallpaper and then paint. Hopefully it will only take 2ish days (including drying time). After that, the next house project is our bathroom which is in complete need of help. More on that later tho.

Things to do....

(It occurs to me that I'm not sure why I have categories defined for my posts - those of you who are MT familiar will understand - since I *almost always* just pick "in general." Huh.)

But yes, things to do today:

Shopping
- marshmallows
- Milk
- Rubbermaid Containers for garage
- 3 ring binders for 1800 Manual
- Birthday Present
- Food for Pack Picnic

Tonight the Potter's are camping out - probably in our own living room looking at the weather. So i needs to dig out the tent and sleeping bags and get all that in order as well. Nothing like a bit of end of the summer fun to make the kids smile.

Right. I really have nothing to say. Figure that out yet?

Me?

For what it's worth...

Bobby asked me if I was a princess.
I said no.
He looked at me with wrinkled brow and said,
"No Mom. You're a princess. Mommy Princess."

And there you go. And please, no comments from the rest of you. :)

Birthday Weekend

Well we're back from yet another trip to New York. Pretty quick one this time. Drove up Saturday, loaded up Bruce's new Volvo 1800E on our buddy Beetle's trailer, had dinner with the folks and hit the hotel for a good night's sleep. Next morning the boys were up bright and early and headed out to Watkin's Glen for the Nascar race. Terran was one happy kid, as his favorite driver Tony Stewart led most of the race for a relatively easy win. Terran has only been to two races (both at the Glen) and each time Tony has won. That's some luck.

Sunday was also Bruce's 30th birthday. And you know, life likes to throw punches at the best of times - he woke up on Monday and found his first gray hair. :)

But anyway, home again now. Only two more weeks of summer before school (2nd grade!) starts up again for T. At this point I'm pretty convinced that Bobby won't be potty trained in time for fall preschool, but we'll try again in the spring maybe. There's always next year as well.

Life is very very good.
