Items that are just entirely too cool...
or crazy...
or funny...
to be on this year's Christmas wish list.
Bobby has a heart murmur. We've known about this since birth and he has been under the care of a cardiologist since he was bout 6 weeks old. Although the murmur was not by itself a major concern, during those first few tests he was also found to have restricted blood flow through his aortic valve. A small fistula was also seen - this is like a small lip of skin, or a flap, on the wall of his heart. Again, no *major* or *immediate* concerns - but bring him back in six months and we'll look at him again.
Six months later, they tell us that things haven't really gotten better, but they haven't gotten worse. Bring him back in a year (in the mean time, his regular pediatrician monitors his murmur and will let us know if we need to go back sooner).
So last week we had a slew of Doctor's visits. Bobby's 18 month well child, and then his cardiologist appointments. And there is good news indeed.
In the last year both the flow issue and the fistula have resolved themselves. He still has the murmur, but the cardilogist was confident it was resolve itself within the next 5 years. He then released Bobby from his care!
So good news... It's very nice to be able to let go of part of the worry.
And we're just happy and thankful. :)
Copied from an email sent to friends on Oct. 30th:
So...Terran has decided to be Tony Stewart instead of a crab. Fine by me, that means I don't have to make a costume. I ordered one from tony's online store and am now kicking myself for not getting some garb for Bobby so he could simply be "Tony Stewart's Greatest Fan" for halloween. But wait, rummaging through the fabric at Walmart reveals that.....Yes! There is such thing as Tony Stewart/Home Depot fabric!
So late (late) last night I made him a pair of muscle pants. They're okay, I was tired and at one point had to ask B if I was piecing everything together correctly and if in fact I was actually making pants and not say...a long tube. Heh.
I also went to 3 different....no 4, if you count Walmart...stores looking for an orange shirt or sweatshirt that I could put "Tony Stewart's Greatest Fan" on. So um, orange isn't a popular color this year. I did find at the old navy outlet a girl's halloween shirt with a glitter cat on it. Ok...cut off the ruffles, re-hem and um....turn it inside out. So that's my back up. I'm going to check target tonight for an actual sweatshirt just to up the warmth at all if I can.
And I swear this is the dorkiest costume ever. I mean gimme a break - Tony Stewart Muscle pants and a girl's shirt turned inside out? But the thing is....Terran loves Tony Stewart and is his greatest fan. Bobby loves Terran and is his greatest fan. So you do the math. It works. Somehow.
Sadly, I didn't discover until after the kids were dressed and we were enroute to the annual parade that our camera's battery was about to die. We managed to snap just two pictures before the flash wouldn't fire anymore.
