I know. I wanted the rain to stop. I wanted sunshine and summer.
But here's the deal. It's 92 degrees outside right now. Hot, hot, hot. I suppose I shouldn't complain. My poor kids haven't spent much time outside lately. From thunderstorm warnings to heat advisories it hasn't been very welcoming outside.
We have been going for an after dinner walk most nights. By that time it's usually only about 85 degrees or so...and if we're lucky there's a slight breeze. Bobby sits in his wagon and lately Terran has been riding his bike. It's great at shaking off those after dinner lazies.
Not much else to report. We're headed up to NY next week and are trying to get the playroom painted before then. I bought all the paint today so we should have it done by Sunday.
And so begins the first week of summer vacation. Terran and I came up with a short list of things we could do this week:
Make a puppet
Make a weather station
Set up the pool outside
Obviously setting up the pool would require sunshine. We'll accomplish 2 out of the 3 anyway. :)
Bruce's book (the one on 802.11 Security) is being translated into Japanese. We should be getting a copy of the translation soon - it'll be neat to see for sure.
We're getting ready to head up to NY again in a few weeks. The greater Potter clan is getting together once again and as always it should be a good time. We're taking Julia dog with us. For some strange reason everyone up there thinks of her as a "good, mellow dog." She sure knows how to fool 'em. Echo dog will be staying at her favorite kennel. Of special note: Terran and Bobby will be getting baptized by their Uncle Mike while we are in Allegany. More about that when I know more.
We went to a birthday party at the petting zoo today. It was probably close to 92 degrees outside at the start of the party - but an hour and half into it the skies let loose with all sorts of rain and thunder and lightening. Bruce, the kids and I managed to hightail it out of there before the worst hit, but I have no idea how the others fared.
This is a picture I took of Bobby on the wagon ride.

You know... Somewhere in an entry below I said "labor day" when I meant "memorial day."
Anyway, a pic of the kids to enjoy!

Added birthday's 2, 3, 4 and 5 to Terran's Birthdays in the Gallery. Lots of pics to be seen. He certainly is starting to grow up!
Spent a fair bit of time this weekend trying to finish up old projects. You know - the little things that sit around for weeks staring at you and making you feel guilty for not paying attention to them.
We managed to:
To be fair, the only thing I did on this list was the Ebay stuff. But seriously, that took like half a day. I'm not kidding.
One reason it took so long is that no matter what you are doing, you now have to stop every few minutes to go get Bobby. Our little guy is defintely on a walking streak. Thankfully he's still quite slow - so every few minutes I just pick him up and start him out all over again in the corner of the house closest to where I'm at. By next week I'll have to have a new strategy, I'm sure.
Went to see Finding Nemo today. Cute movie - I love the shark. I both jumped in my seat (cause I'm a big ol' chicken) and laughed many times over.
Oh, I also cleaned up the laundry area downstairs. That counts for something, right? :)
So um, yeah. I've been a bit lazy in my efforts to post an update. Downright delinquent, actually.
The last few weeks have been a complete whirlwind of activity. We've been to New York - drove up two weekends in a row. Bruce and I had a wedding to attend in Allegany over Labor Day which marked our first time alone (as in sans kids) since the drive to the hospital to have Bobby.
Then Bruce was scheduled to speak in Toronto on June 4th so we went up early to hang out yet again at Grandma's house. I opted to keep the kids out of Canada - good ol' SARS will do that - and Bruce wasn't even in Toronto for more than 8 hours. Anyway a few choice pics of the trips are here. We made a quick visit to Hershey, PA, saw Niagara Falls and did some fishing up at Grandpa's pond.
In other news, Bruce's second book is out. This one was co-written with two good friends Preston Norvel and Brian Wotring. Support the family and buy a copy should you feel like it. :) Bruce is already pitching another book idea to a few publishers so we'll see what comes of that.
School ends next Friday. However, the summer already looks pretty full and that's a good thing as far as I'm concerned. Terran has swimming and tennis lessons lined up. Plus he's made quite a few playmates this year and playdates are never short at hand. In July we'll be spending a week up in Allegany (we love it up there - and no I'm not being sarcastic) and who knows what August will bring.
Bobby is walking...almost. By next week I'm sure he'll be on his feet non-stop. This means, of course, that I have a whole new level of babyproofing to do and I'd better hurry up and get it done.
The leaky roof has been fixed. If it ever stops raining my house might finally get it's paint job finished. Bruce and I have been having nightly discussions about house numbers and what we want to have outside. Searching the Internet reveals that there are far too many choices. Who knew.
