BOBBY:

Today Bobby sat down with a crayon and a piece of paper and "taught" his daddy some letters. No really. He gave Bruce some instruction on the letters H, I, G, L, T and U. The kid actually wrote each letter in turn and then made his father repeat the letter's sound. There was an attempt at a written Q that didn't go so well - though he has the Q sound nailed. I'm stunned. He's known the letter sounds for a few weeks now but... Well put it this way. Up until this point his "art" has consisted of scribbles and the occasional circle or lopsided square. (I realize this post would be better served with a scan of bobby's masterpiece - but since he opted to draw over the inital letters it'll take me awhile to highlight the important bits.)

But still.

I'm a proud mommy.

TERRAN:

He turns 7 tomorrow. Today was a snow day and we spent about 5 hours on and off putting together the Lego Millennium Falcon he received for Christmas. It's just shy of 1000 pieces and while there were a few places where he needed help attaching parts, for the most part he did it all himself. It's an amazing process to watch - and one that makes me realize just how fast he's growing up. Last year he would not have been able to complete a lego project of this size with as little direction as I gave him today. I used to have to sweep in behind him and correct pieces here and there. But today....

It's fair to say.

My kids amaze me.
