The wind and rain are supposed to hit us hard later today. Schools all over VA have been cancelled for the day. Our local rec center where T takes his swimming lessons has cancelled all of today's activities as well. Even the Gov't has decided to take the day off.
They are expecting 6-10 inches of rain in our general area.
So we've taken care to clear out our gutters, move a lot of outside furniture inside or to the basement, make sure our gas cans are full (for possible generator use) and filled both propane tanks for the grill.
We've also made sure we have plenty of batteries, candles, matches and that kind of stuff.
As for food, at any given time I have enough food in this house to feed us for a month or more so that wasn't really an issue - though B did make a late night run yesterday to get some Lactaid for Bobby (our lactose intolerant milk drinker).
What most people seemed to be concerned with around here is the possibility of the power going out for several days. All the high winds and rain certainly could have that effect.
Thank goodness we don't live on the Carolina coast.
